Sun protection tips for babies and toddlers
Sun Protection for BABIES and TODDLERS
- Make sure that your baby’s stroller provides adequate shade
- Your baby should have fresh air and light but not at the peak risk times of the day, try the early morning or late afternoon
- Your baby should wear a hat or bonnet with a wide brim whenever he or she is outside
- When sitting outside find a shady place to rest or use a handy SUN SHADE TENT
- Make sure your baby’s arms and legs are loosely covered
- Choose a sunscreen of at least 15 SPF
- Do a “patch test” before you plan time in the sun
- Sunscreen should NOT be used on babies less than 6 months old
- Apply the sunscreen before going outside and reapply every 2 hours
- Don’t forget the hands, ears, nose and the area around the eye
- An SPF lip balm should be applied
- UV blocking sunglasses will protect the eyes from UVB and UVA rays
- NEVER put baby oil on your child before going outside
